About This Course Pack
Innovation, creativity, and adaptability are all critical to success for both organizations and individuals. In fact, innovative and creative thinking are paramount for organizations to survive in a rapidly changing world.
In this course, students will learn to productively question the status quo, think creatively about solving challenging and complex problems, and innovate opportunities to create value.
They will work individually and in teams to think entrepreneurially and creatively solve a series of challenging and complex problems, as they would in the role of a consultant or professional advisor, as well as, learn about and apply creative problem-solving techniques and develop innovative, viable solutions to solve some of our most pressing challenges. Learning methods include peer reviews, discussions, and assignments focused on defining problems, innovative problem-solving tools, evaluating solutions, and defining success.
At the end of the term, each student will "pitch" the recommendations from a consulting project to their managing partner (the instructor) and the potential client (a student panel).
This course has been designed for a 13-week semester and is aligned with the open textbook Innovation by Katherine Carpenter.
